Annie was born in 1877 in Staffordshire.1  Annie's father was William Shipley and her mother was Sarah Hunt. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Joseph, Arthur, Edward, Alice, (Ellen) and Emily.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.
