Thomas' father was John Scrivens and his mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Banks.  His maternal grandparents were Philip Banks and Sarah Bolton. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, William, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 1 in 1863 in Pemberton.¹
