Jeffrey was born on December 22nd, 1896 and his baptism took place on February 14th, 1897 in Malpas.1 2  Jeffrey's father was Smith Augustus Salt and his mother was Annie Richards.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Richards and Mary Jane Tomkin. He had a brother and five sisters, named George, Ruth, Myra, Nancy, Alice and Marion.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 75 in July 1972 in Cheshire.3 



Jeffrey's family with Dorothy (Dolly) Hartley

‌Jeffrey and Dolly were married in a religious ceremony in April 1930 in Whitchurch.4   They had two sons named George and Peter.
