Betsy Rothwell

Betsy was born in October 1836 in Sharples and her baptism took place on October 23rd, 1836 in Bolton.¹²

Betsy's father was James Rothwell and her mother was Mary Nightingale. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, James, Hannah and Esther. She was the fourth oldest of the five children. She died due to diabetes at the age of 60 in July 1897 in Lawrence. Her burial was in July 1897.³

  In 1851, Betty was aged 15 and living on the Blackburn Road, Sharples with her parents and family.

  From 1864 her occupation was Spinner in Astley Bridge.
