David's father was John Oxton and his mother was Margaret Edwards.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Oxton and Rachel Williams. He had a brother and two sisters, named John, Winifred and Sarah.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He was adopted by John Williams & Alice Oxton.  He died at the age of 27 in December 1895 in the Wirral.
