John was born on July 25th, 1827 in Pendleton and his baptism took place on November 11th, 1827 in Great Harwood.1  John's father was John Oliverson and his mother was Esther Baron. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Christopher, Barry, James, Robert, Isabella and Nanny.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
