Barry was born in January 1816 in Harwood and his baptism took place on January 7th, 1816 in Great Harwood.1  Barry's father was John Oliverson and his mother was Esther Baron. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Christopher, James, Robert, John, Isabella and Nanny.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
