John Monks

John was born in 1834 in Bolton and his baptism took place on June 29th, 1834 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

John's father was Nathan Monks and his mother was Jane Mather. His maternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Ellen Green. He had two brothers and a sister, named Edward, James and Mary. He was the youngest of the four known children. He died at the age of 10 in August 1844 in Little Bolton. His burial was on August 24th, 1844 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²

  1 Nov 1843, Aged 10 when acquitted of larcany.
  
  Aged 13 in 1847 when sailed on his own (steerage) on Steam Ship Acadia from Liverpool to New York to stay in the USA. Arrived 25 April 1847. However this must be another.
  
  Aug 1844, John, son of Natahn Monks of Little Bolton, died, aged 10 years.
