Thomas' father was Thomas Millington and his mother was Sarah Cromwell.  His paternal grandparents were John Millington and Margaret Youd. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, George, Richard, Martha and Sarah.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 75 in December 1870 in Stoke upon Trent.²
