Mary's father was William Millington and her mother was Mary Bradshaw. Her paternal grandparents were William Millington and Jane Williams. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Daniel, Charles, Ellen, Minnie and Rose. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
