General Notes
The 1863 birth record suggests Thomas is a bastard child.
In 1871, Alice and Thomas (16 and 8) were with their grandmother Hannah (66). Jane (30) and John (21) were also present and Jane is the likely mother (John is too young).
In 1890, before he died, Thomas Mather (known as Tom) was living with his mother at Warburton Fold. He went to Belmont Bleachworks for his wages, which he then appears to have drank away.
This Thomas Mather was a spinner. He was drunk and died with cause of death as drowned at Dunscar lodge. There was an inquest in the club room at the Globe Inn, Egerton.
