Stanley was born in June 1906 in Horwich.¹

Birth Notes

Stanley's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Ellen Close. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Esther Thornley. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, Ellen, Elsie and Gertrude. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 29 in 1935 in Farnworth.²
