Percy's father was Richard Slate Mather and his mother was Fanny Corner.  His paternal grandparents were Matthias Mather and Elizabeth Brown. He had a brother named Frederick.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 81 in September 1973 in Lytham St Anne's.  He was buried on September 24th, 1973 in Lytham St Anne's.²
