Nathaniel's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Robinson.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Joanna Hilton. He had two brothers and a sister, named Nathaniel, Samuel and Alice.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 4 in December 1757 in Manchester.  He was buried on December 6th, 1757 in Manchester.¹
