Nancy was born on November 12th, 1877 in Samlesbury and her baptism took place on January 13th, 1878 in Mellor.1 2  Nancy's father was Nicholas Mather and her mother was Alice Earnshaw.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Margaret Pomfret. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, John, James, Sarah, Margaret and Jane.  She was the youngest of the seven children. She had a half-sister named Mary.  She died at the age of 87 on December 12th, 1964.
