Mary was born on April 9th, 1810 in Walton-le-Dale and her baptism took place there on April 24th, 1810.1  Mary's father was John Mather and her mother was Margaret (Peggy) Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were Joshua Mather and Margaret Fielden. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Joshua, John, Ann, Peggy and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the six known children.  She died at the age of 3 in February 1814 in Walton-le-Dale.  She was buried on February 9th, 1814 in Walsgrave On Sowe.2
