Maria was born in 1702 in Middle Hulton and her baptism took place on October 13th, 1702 at St. Mary (Deane).1  Maria's father was Johannis (John) Mather and her mother was <unknown>.  Her paternal grandparents were Johannis (John) Mather and Elizabeth Mather. She had a brother and five sisters, named John, Esther, Elizabetha, Anna, Margaretha and Isabella.
