Jane was born on February 23rd, 1872 in Turton and her baptism took place on June 2nd, 1872 at Christ Church, Walmsley.1 2  Jane's father was James Mather and her mother was Mary Jane Worswick.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Ann Ainsworth. She had a brother named John.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died at the age of 85 in October 1957 in Farnworth.3
