Mary's maiden name was WORSWICK (shown on their daughters birth record). She was from Haywood, James's father's home town. Her parents were John, a spindle maker, and Jane.
9 Sep 1869, James Mather (23) a Beetler of Cox Green, Turton, son of Robert Mather a Quarryman married Mary Jane Worswick (22) of 46 Bow Street, Little Bolton, daughter of John Worswick an Engineer at Park Street Wesleyan Methodist, Bolton.
In 1911, James and Mary Jane (68 & 64) had been married 40y and were at 14 Tong Fields, Dunscar, Walmsley with their daughter Jane Ann Mather (38, single).
In 1931, Mary Jane of 14 Tong Fields, Bromiley Cross died and was buried at Walmsley Christ Church.,
Mary and James were married in a religious & civil ceremony on September 9th, 1869 in Bolton witnessed by Joseph Worswick; Esther Worswick.4
