James Mather

James was born in June 1857 in Bolton.¹

James' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Jane Johnson. His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Jameson. He had a brother and three sisters, named William, Ann, Betty and Betty. He had an adopted brother named Henry.

- James may be a son of Thomas and Jane but missing in 1861. There are no other Lancashire (or Cheshire) MATHER (male) and JOHNSON marriages preceeding James's birth. However, there is no death registered for James between 1857-61.
