Henry was born on July 25th, 1786 in Liverpool and his baptism took place on August 13th, 1786 at St. Nicholas (L'pool).1 2  Henry's father was Richard Mather and his mother was Ann (Nancy) Tyrer. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Henry, Richard, Thomas, Betty, Ann, Sarah, Hannah and Hannah.  He was the third youngest of the ten children.
