Ann was born on January 15th, 1782 in Liverpool and her baptism took place on February 10th, 1782 at St. Nicholas (L'pool). Ann's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Ann (Nancy) Tyrer. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Henry, Richard, Thomas, Henry, Betty, Sarah, Hannah and Hannah.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
