Harriet was born in July 1850 in Halifax.1  Harriet's father was John Mather and her mother was Mary Ann Wilson.  Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Mather and Sarah Sandels. She had a brother named James.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died at the age of 76 in January 1927 in Salford.2
