George was born in December 1861 in Bolton.¹

Birth Notes

George's father was John Mather and his mother was Peggy Holden. His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Martha Kay. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Titus, James, John, Isaac, Martha and Margaret. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 2 in March 1864 in Bolton.¹
