Elizabeth was born in 1867 in Manchester.1   Elizabeth's father was Luke Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Leigh.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Sarah (Sally) Stewart. She had two brothers named John and William.  She was the youngest of the three known children.
