Edmund Mather

Edmund was born in 1785 in Withnell and his baptism took place on April 16th, 1785 at Over Darwen Lower Chapel conducted by Reverend Robert Smalley.¹

Edmund's father was James Mather and his mother was Esther Mason. He had four brothers named George, Thomas, Robert and John. He was the third oldest of the five children.

General Notes
- Edmund may have married Betty Wilkinson in 1806, and later, in 1822, an EDWARD Mather married Jane Marsden in Leyland.
  
  Children from the second marriage lived in the tiny village of Withnell, so it is possible there are two families here!
