Charles was born in 1890 in Little Bolton.1  Charles' father was Henry Mather and his mother was Clara Roberts.  His paternal grandparents were Charles Mather and Betty Crompton. He had two sisters named Eva and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the three known children.
