Ann was born in 1810 in Darcy Lever and her baptism took place on September 9th, 1810 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Ann's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Sarah Davenport.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Thornley. She had three sisters named Ann, Mary and Nancy.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
