Sarah was born in 1766 in Sharples and her baptism took place on August 17th, 1766 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Sarah's father was James Lomax and her mother was Ann Haslam. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James, James, John, Richard, Margaret, Alice and Alice.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
