James was born in 1788 in Breightmet and his baptism took place on October 12th, 1788.1 2  James' father was George Lomax and his mother was Catherine Crompton. He had two brothers named John and Richard.  He was the second oldest of the three children.





James' family with Sarah Tootil

‌James and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on August 5th, 1822 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3   They had a son and a daughter, named Peter and Jane.  There are no more children.
