Joshua was born in 1762 in Breightmet. Joshua's father was John Lomax and his mother was Sarah Settle.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 88 in February 1850 in Tonge-with-Haulgh.  He was buried on February 3rd, 1850 at Christ Church, Ainsworth.1
