Gordon's father was John William Lewis and his mother was Evelyn Mary Dittmer. His maternal grandparents were William Augistin Dittmer and Sarah (Sally) Alice Griffiths. He had three brothers and a sister, named Kenneth, Alan, Norman and Dorothy. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 68 on June 6th, 2000 in Liverpool.¹
