James Knowles

James was born in 1769 in Turton and his baptism took place on March 19th, 1769 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

James' father was John Knowles and his mother was Jane Thomason. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Mathew, William, James, Sally, Hannah, Rachel and Bella.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 22 in June 1791 in Turton.  He was buried on June 18th, 1791 at Turton Chapel.²
