Clara's father was Joseph Jackson and her mother was Nancy Maria Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Jane Scowcroft. She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, James, Albert and Annie. She was the second oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 1 in March 1873 in Elton. Her burial was on March 12th, 1873 at All Saints (Elton).²¹
