Thomas was born in 1834 in Burland and his baptism took place on March 9th, 1834 in Acton by Nantwich.1 2  Thomas' father was William Hughes and his mother was Sylvia Hunt. He had a brother and five sisters, named Edward, Mary, Sarah, Ann, Hannah and Ann.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 63 on October 6th, 1897 in Chester.3
