Ann was born in 1827 in Burland and her baptism took place on October 14th, 1827 in Acton by Nantwich.1  Ann's father was William Hughes and her mother was Sylvia Hunt. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Mary, Sarah, Hannah and Ann.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
