Peter was born in 1783 in Bolton and his baptism took place on June 13th, 1783 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Peter's father was John Holt and his mother was Alice Haslam.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Holt and Elizabeth (Betty) Howarth. He had a brother and two sisters, named Titus, Betty and Ellen.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
