Margaret's father was Edmund Holt and her mother was Mary Reynolds.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Holt and Jane Kay. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, James and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named James and Elizabeth.
