George was born in 1831 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on November 6th, 1831 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  George's father was Abraham Heapy and his mother was Sarah Firth. He had a brother and two sisters, named John, Ann and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the four children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Abraham, Samuel, Samuel, Sarah, Martha, Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Elizabeth.
