Edna was born in March 1905 in Bolton.1  Edna's father was William Glazebrook and her mother was Elizabeth Ann Horrocks.  Her paternal grandparents were William Glazebrook and Mary Ellen Heaton; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Horrocks and Jane Dewhurst. She had two brothers and four sisters, named William, Arthur, Doris, Edith, Mary and Annie.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
