John's father was Thomas Eddowes and his mother was Charlotte Morris. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Thomas, Daniel, Charlotte, Sarah and Fanny. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died about 1810 in Wrexham.

- John must have died, as another John son of Thomas and Charlotte was baptised in 1814.
