Mary's father was James Cunliffe and her mother was Mary Hargreaves. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named James, Peggy, Ellen and Mary.  She died at the age of 3 in 1827 in Rawtenstall.  She was buried on July 3rd, 1827 in Newchurch in Rossendale.²
