Mary was born on May 29th, 1803 and her baptism took place on October 13th, 1803 in Almondbury.1  Mary's father was James Crosland Jnr and her mother was Martha Battye.  Her paternal grandparents were Mr James Crosland and Ellen Batty. She had a brother and two sisters, named Nathan, Martha and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
