George was born on March 7th, 1806 in Kirkburton and his baptism took place there on March 17th, 1806.1  George's father was Daniel (Dan) Crosland and his mother was Mary Wagstaff. He had five brothers and a sister, named James, John, Jonathan, Joseph, Joshua and Lydia.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
