Edwin was born on December 9th, 1836 in Lindley and his baptism took place on January 23rd, 1837 at Lindley Zion Chapel.1 2  Edwin's father was John Crosland and his mother was Mary Wilkinson. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Joseph, Ard, James, John, Law, George, Jane, Hannah, Bessy, Mary and Sarah.  Edwin and Mary were twins.  He died at the age of 57 in 1893.
