Jane was born in January 1897 in Massachusetts (MA).1   Jane's father was John Robert Cooper and her mother was Mary Jane Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Jane Bamber. She had a brother and a sister, named Arthur and Nelly.  She was the youngest of the three known children.
