Robert's father was Robert Chadwick and his mother was Betty (Elizabeth) Mather.  His maternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Edge. He had a brother and five sisters, named Henry, Margaret, Mary, Sarah, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at 2 months old in May 1834 in Little Bolton.  He was buried on May 31st, 1834 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹
