Robert was born in March 1834 in Little Bolton. Robert's father was Robert Chadwick and his mother was Betty (Elizabeth) Mather.  His maternal grandparents were John Mather and Betty Edge. He had a brother and five sisters, named Henry, Margaret, Mary, Sarah, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.  He died at 2 months old in May 1834 in Little Bolton.  His burial was on May 31st, 1834 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1
