Fred was born on April 3rd, 1904 in Royton.1  Fred's father was Albert Buckley and his mother was Emily Shaw.  His paternal grandparents were George Buckley and Eliza Hampson. He had two brothers and a sister, named Albert, Wilfred and Edith.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 69 in 1973.
