Fred's father was Albert Buckley and his mother was Emily Shaw.  His paternal grandparents were George Buckley and Eliza Hampson. He had two brothers and a sister, named Albert, Wilfred and Edith.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 69 in 1973.

‌Fred and Evelyn were married in a religious ceremony in 1934 at St. James (Oldham).¹
