Bertha was born in March 1882 in Oldham.1  Bertha's father was William Henry Buckley and her mother was Alice A Bradbury.  Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Buckley and Sarah Wild. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Harry, Taylor, Sarah, Clara and Maud.  She was the second oldest of the six known children.
