Samuel was born in December 1841 in Darcy Lever.1  Samuel's father was James Brooks and his mother was Margaret Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Margaret Thompson. He had three sisters named Alice, Mary and Hannah.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at 1 months old in January 1842 in Darcy Lever.  He was buried on January 27th, 1842 at the St. Matthew (Little Lever).2 1
